Dear Friends of Forgotten Friends,

QUESTION: How far would you go to help a dog or cat? Would you walk to your garage, basement or attic? I'm sure you would walk miles to help an animal in need.

With this in mind, please remember that your unused treasures help us to raise the funds necessary to provide quality care for the animals we rescue. Please...take a moment of your time....and walk into your garage or basement or attic to find one or two items we can use to help save lives. Remember...we consider the items you no longer need to be TREASURES. Here's what we hope you can find:

1) New Holiday gifts that you do not want
2) Wine and liquor
3) Jewelry (handmade, estate, silver, costume, 14K)
4) New designer handbags or designer anything
5) Estate items (collectibles, clocks, Lenox, Waterford, Tiffany, etc.)
6) New electronics
7) New men's items
8) Signed sports memorabilia such as photos, posters, baseballs, footballs
9) Any gift certificate you won't use
10) Tickets to the movies, sporting events, theater, museums, art exhibitions

Please....look around your house......ask friends and family members to do the same and then contact one of the following volunteers to arrange local pick up:

Kim at (917) 567-8010. Kim's email is dolphingirl632@aol.com.
Lynn at (516) 752-7132 (home) or (516) 754-8154 (cell).

Our rescue work never ever stops. So far in 2012, we've rescued 3 very precious dogs: Charlotte, Scrappy and Linus. Please take a moment to view their photos and read their stories.

CHARLOTTE, also known as "CHA CHA", was rescued from the Southampton Animal Shelter. She is the mother of 3 former FFLI bottle babies who were gravely ill and couldn't be taken care of by their mother. Charlotte is a 4 year old black and white pit bull mix. She has stunning markings. She gets along with other dogs but is a bit cautious around cats. Charlotte loves to give kisses and loves her treats. She especially enjoys being with people who understand her need to get to know them first.

SCRAPPY is a 6-8 month old Pointer/Pit Bull mix who we saved from death row after being diagnosed with kennel cough. This baby was left tied to a pole in January, without food or water. He is as sweet as sugar and loves cuddling on the sofa. Scrappy is a great car ride companion who enjoys the company of humans and dogs, both big and small. He is sure to make his future family very happy and fill their days with joy and laughter.

LINUS is a 5-6 month old shepherd mix who was hit by 2 cars last Thursday night. A compassionate police officer had to literally remove Linus from under the car and then rushed him to the ER. Linus' upper lip was detached from his gum line which has since been stitched back. X-rays revealed that this poor pup has a fractured front leg and serious damage to both rear legs and pelvis. FFLI was asked to help save his life and we immediately took him under our wing. Linus will have his much needed surgery thanks to the generosity of FFLI donors. Four surgeons will repair his broken body. Although his prognosis is excellent, Linus will have a long road to recovery and we will stand by his side every step of the way. We'll keep you posted on his recovery. Please keep Linus in your thoughts and prayers. Please take a moment to watch Linus' video, you will understand the severity of his injuries.

`

Eva and Gypsy had been in our program since July 2010. They'd spent every waking moment together, and we are happy to report that they were adopted together!
Enjoy your new lives girls!
