FORGOTTEN FRIENDS ANIMAL RESCUE
IS THE PROUD RECIPIENT OF
THE ANNUAL PET PEEVES GRANT

FORGOTTEN FRIENDS THANKS
JANINE DION AND THE BOARD OF PET PEEVES
FOR THEIR KINDNESS, GENEROSITY AND SUPPORT

Forgotten Friends of Long Island (FFLI) is a 501c3 non- profit all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescue of companion animals which have been in municipal shelters for an extended period of time, overlooked by both the general public and other rescue groups.

Forgotten Friends has no paid staff.  Every dollar raised goes directly to provide quality medical care and rehabilitation for the dogs and cats in our care.

FFLI will intervene, whenever possible, to rescue animals in dire need of immediate attention.  Because FFLI believes that no animal should be unloved, nor is unlovable, we will not shy away from taking old, sick or “difficult” dogs into our program.

Each dog/cat will be vaccinated, receive veterinary care as needed, heartworm tested and started on heartworm preventative and spayed or neutered.  Our volunteers will work tirelessly on training, teaching basic manners, and socialization both with people and other dogs/cats to prepare each animal to become a valued member of a loving and permanent home.

FFLI will use every opportunity to promote spay/neuter programs in the community and help to educate the public in responsible pet ownership.

Forgotten Friends of Long Island is a member of the Mayor’s Alliance of NYC and the proud recipient of a prestigious 2012 Pet Peeves Grant.  We continue to rescue the neediest animals from local municipal shelters on Long Island, Brooklyn and New York City.  We have appeared on Fox and Friends News numerous times and have appeared in many newspaper and magazine articles.

We are grateful for the generosity and support of the public in helping us to end the cycle of misery and death caused by overpopulation, neglect and abuse.

Dear Friends of Forgotten Friends,
Here he is….our boy LINUS…now in foster care after surviving a horrific car accident and following extensive surgery to repair his broken legs and pelvis:

We are so proud of the progress he has made.  We are indebted to all the wonderful surgeons and vet techs at the New York Veterinary Specialists in Farmingdale for providing Linus with the best possible medical treatment.  The vets said Linus’ injuries were among the worst they had ever seen.  Our appreciation goes to the police officer who rushed Linus to the ER after being hit by two cars so his life could be saved. .  A special thanks to Judy, one of our Dog Coordinators who is now fostering Linus and who will help him on his road to recovery. Thank you one and all….thank you for helping us help our best friends……

Fondly, Carol
