Our Neediest Forgotten
Friends
Only with your help, can we help them!!!

This past weekend FFLI rescued 12 dogs.  Three poodles in terrible shape and Mama dog with eight 5 week old puppies.  Some puppies appeared to be sick.  Mama is skin and bones and lost 6 pounds in less than a week.

                            Mama Marie

Mama Marie is holding her own.  She did vomit last night and vet is continuing IV fluids on her and anti-nausea medications as well as antibiotics.
Three of the eight puppies are in very poor condition - high fevers, bloody diarrhea, vomiting.  The other five are sick but stable.  One of the five appears to be heading to a sicker state.  He got IV fluids last night.

June 17th, 2009
Momma Marie and all pups were transferred today to My Pet's Vet animal hospital.  Momma and three pups are still very sick.  Five other pups seems to be OK.  All dogs will be examine by Dr. Brooks and we will know soon if five healthy looking pups can be released into the foster care.

They all made it through the night...

June 29th, 2009
Six out of eight puppies were released from the hospital and are recovering now in the foster home.  Momma Marie and one puppy are still in the intensive care in hospital.

July 2nd, 2009
Mama Marie is doing beautifully.  She is gaining some weight - 3 lbs so far - and eating well.  We hope that she can go to a foster home next week.
The sick puppy at the hospital is still sick and it may be more serious than we anticipated.  The baby has a severe heart murmur and weakness in the rear legs.
The other baby that is keeping the sick baby company is doing very well.

Jackie
Jackie was rescued on April 30th and was admitted to My Pets Vet.  She is a 5 year old Bull Terrier mix with a severe skin condition.  Take a look at the picture below and you will understand why FFLI came to her rescue.

UPDATE on Jackie
as of May 20, 2009

Jackie is in a foster home and currently on medication. She has been treated for demodex.  She is scheduled to go back to vet in couple weeks.  Her condition depends on the day.  Some days it looks like she is making a progress, other days it looks a little worse.
