Only with your help can we help them...

Only with your help, can we help them

Our departed friends
"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary that our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.  Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.  We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan." ~ Irving Townsend

It is with a very sad heart that we must tell you all that ETHEL has past away today.  Dr. Wolfurst took her to the OR to explore her abdomen and unfortunately her gall bladder had ruptured and there was scar tissue all around her liver and pus everywhere.  This dog was suffering horribly and there was no way to help her.  She was put to sleep once her diagnosis was known.  Please pray for ETHEL and know that at least she is out of pain and that she definitely would have suffered so much longer if she was still in the shelter.  We all are very sad but we are comfortable knowing that we did the very best we could.

God's Garden

God looked around his garden
and found an empty place,
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering.
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, 'Peace be Thine'.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Sadly, sometimes the kindest course to take is to let go of a precious life. FFLI was notified by a local shelter of Faith's desperate circumstances. Metastatic cancer had all but destroyed her orbital bone and there was metastasis to her sinus cavity and spine as well.  A large tumor protruded from her eye and it was evident that the dog has been severely neglected by owners. In fact, she was dropped off at a local vet as a "stray", the owners claiming the dog was not theirs, and cruelly abandoned to her fate. Turned over to the shelter, she faced as lonely and sad a death as her life had probably been.
Unfortunately, the most FFLI could do for poor Faith was to take her to their own vet and. after ascertaining that her condition was indeed grave, hold her and love her while relinquishing her precious life to a peaceful sleep.  If only for the space of a few hours, Faith experienced the respect and love deserved by every living creature and FFLI was blessed to be able to provide her this final dignity.
Faith was buried at the Bide A Wee cemetery.
